Pair your EFTPOS terminal (Linkly Cloud)
EFTPOS payments in MechOS use Linkly Cloud to bridge between this app and your physical PIN pad. Each PIN pad needs to be paired once — after that, Charge to EFTPOS terminal in an invoice’s Record Payment routes the transaction to that pad.
Before you start
- Your VenueSmart card payments must be active, and MechOS must have switched EFTPOS on and connected your Linkly account (contact support). Settings → Tax & Payments → EFTPOS Terminal reads Connected to Linkly when it’s ready. You don’t enter any login details.
- The PIN pad must be physically powered on and connected to the internet.
Get a pair code from the PIN pad
Pair codes are temporary. Open + Pair new terminal in MechOS first (below), then get the code and enter it straight away.
A PIN pad with keys:
- On the PIN pad, press FUNC.
- Enter 8880 on the keypad.
- Press OK.
- The pair code appears on the PIN pad screen.
A touchscreen PIN pad (Pax A910S): FUNC is the Function button at the bottom of the pad’s POS Connect screen (it may show your provider’s logo).
- Tap Function, enter 8880 and tap DONE.
- At PINPAD PAIRING / PRESS ENTER, tap ENTER.
- The pair code appears. It lasts about 90 seconds.
- When you’ve finished pairing (below), go back to taking payments: tap Function, enter 9999 and tap DONE. The pad stays on the POS Connect screen until you do, even after a restart.
Enter the code in MechOS
- Open Settings → Tax & Payments → EFTPOS Terminal.
- Click + Pair new terminal.
- Type the pair code shown on the PIN pad.
- Give the terminal a nickname — something you'll recognise (“Front counter”, “Bay 2”, etc.).
- If you have multiple branches, pick which one this PIN pad lives at. Leave it as All branches if it's a roaming pad.
- Click Pair terminal.
On success the terminal appears in the list straight away. It's ready to take a charge — open any invoice, click Record Payment and choose Charge to EFTPOS terminal. If it’s your first pad, refresh the page once first.
If the pair fails
- “Linkly rejected the pair code”: the code likely expired. Get a new one on the PIN pad (FUNC 8880 OK, or Function 8880 on a touchscreen pad) and enter it quickly.
- “Linkly didn’t accept this workshop’s EFTPOS login”: the Linkly login MechOS set up needs checking. Contact MechOS support.
- “Could not reach Linkly”: temporary network issue. Wait a minute and try again. If it persists, contact MechOS support.
Re-pairing an existing terminal
If someone resets the pair code on the PIN pad (or the pad is replaced), the existing pairing is no longer valid. Unpairthe stale entry in MechOS, then follow the steps above to pair the pad as a new terminal. Past transactions stay in the audit trail.
