Service remindersBring the car back without chasing it
Set a reminder on the invoice when you do the job, and MechOS emails or texts the customer when the car is due back, in your own wording.

The next service is the easiest job to lose
The car leaves, the next service is six months away, and nobody rings. When it’s due, the customer books in wherever has a spot that week.
A reminder set on the invoice brings them back to you, without anyone keeping a list.
How it works
Set it on the invoice
Tick Service reminder and pick 6 months, 12 months or a date, and the invoice shows when it will go. There’s one per car, so the latest visit always wins.
Follow-ups for the work they put off
Tick Follow-up, type the reason the way the customer should read it, such as “Front brake pads”, and pick when. It stands on its own beside the service reminder.
Already set on this car
When the car comes back, a follow-up that hasn’t gone yet shows on the new invoice, so you can cancel it if you did the work today.
Email, text or both
Choose how each kind of reminder goes and write the wording once in Settings. Texts go through MechOS SMS or Podium, whichever you use.
Sent once, on time
MechOS checks every hour and sends each reminder on its date, at 9am or the time you pick. A reminder more than 30 days overdue is never sent, so an old date can’t set off a flood of messages.
What you get
- Service reminders at 6 months, 12 months or a date
- Follow-up reminders in your own words
- Kilometres alongside the date
- Email, SMS or both
- Your own wording for each kind
- Unsent follow-ups shown when the car returns
- Unsubscribe and opt-out links
- Off until you switch them on
Questions workshops ask
Do reminders go out straight away?
Not until you switch them on. They start off, and anything you tick on an invoice in the meantime waits. When you switch on, any that fell due in the last 30 days go out within the hour.
Can a reminder go by kilometres?
Alongside the date, yes. A service reminder can say “or at 220,000 km, whichever comes first”, and your wording can include it. It’s sent on its date.
What if a customer doesn’t want them?
Reminder emails carry an unsubscribe link, and texts sent through MechOS SMS carry an opt-out link. Anyone who uses one gets no more automated messages, and you can opt a customer out from their record.
Can I change the wording?
Yes. Settings → Communications holds the email and text wording for each kind of reminder, and whether it goes by email, text or both.
