Ask customers for a Google review
3 min read
MechOS can email a customer a few days after they’ve paid, asking how the job went. It’s one question with two answers: happy customers go to your Google listing, unhappy ones come to a private feedback form so you hear about it first.

Turn it on
- Get your Google review link. Find your workshop on Google Maps, open Write a review, and copy the address — or take it from your Google Business Profile.
- In Settings → Reviews, switch on Auto-send review requests. The settings under it unlock.
- Paste the link into Google Review URL straight away. It saves as you type.
- Set the delay — how many days after payment to ask.
- Use Send Test to check it lands properly in a real inbox before customers get it.
Heads up:The Google link field shows a greyed-out example when it’s empty, which reads a lot like a saved value. If nothing is saved, no review requests are sent at all — check for the warning under the field.
What the customer gets
- Your wording, with the customer and vehicle filled in.
- One question — by default “Did you receive 5 star service?”, editable to suit you.
- Two buttons. Yes opens your Google review page. Not really opens a private form that comes back to you.
Who gets asked, and how often
MechOS is deliberately conservative here:
- Only jobs paid in the last 30 days — nobody gets asked about a job from March.
- Imported and back-filled invoices are never included, so switching this on does not email your whole history.
- One request per customer by default, however many invoices they have.
- $0 invoices are skipped — they’re records, not jobs.
- Anyone who opts out of specials and offers is left out for good.
Tip:The first run after you switch it on will pick up everyone paid in the last month at once. If that’s more emails than you want going out together, turn it on at the end of a quiet week.
Responses to the private form appear under Settings → Reviews, so you can deal with a problem directly rather than reading about it publicly.
